Important Dates 2023

June 15: Deadline for paying estimated taxes for the current year (for those who are self-employed or have other sources of income not subject to withholding).

Tax form issuance deadlines:

January 31: Deadline for issuing W-2s to employees and 1099s to contractors.

February 28: Deadline for filing 1099s with the IRS (if filing on paper).

March 31: Deadline for filing 1099s with the IRS (if filing electronically).

Retirement plan deadlines:

December 31: Deadline for setting up and funding a retirement plan for the current year.

April 1: Deadline for taking the first required minimum distribution (RMD) from a traditional IRA or 401(k) (for those who turned 72 in the previous year).

December 31: Deadline for taking annual RMDs from traditional IRAs and 401(k)s (for those who are 72 or older).

Common enrollment periods:

November 1 - December 15: Open enrollment period for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

October 15 - December 7: Open enrollment period for Medicare.
